Since most of them are unable to pay back the companies that smuggled them into the country, they are forced to give their passport to the employers until they clear their debt. Without any chance of going back home, the workers live in large compounds together with their fellow countrymen, working up to 13 hours per day, seven days a week for around 400 USD per month.
