Where is the Beauty?

Metrography is excited to announce the upcoming release of Where is the Beauty?—a powerful and deeply personal graphic novel that tells the story of Kamaran Najm, a talented photojournalist and co-founder of the Metrography Agency. The novel explores his life, work, and disappearance.

Nearly eleven years have passed since Kamaran was injured, kidnapped, and disappeared at the hands of ISIS. Yet, his presence continues to be felt every day by his loved ones, colleagues, and the community he inspired. His absence remains a painful reminder of the risks journalists face in the pursuit of truth.

Where is the Beauty? is a compelling visual narrative created by renowned Italian artist Claudio Calia, in close collaboration with Kamaran’s brother, Ahmed Najm. Produced with great care and dedication. Claudio traveled to Kurdistan to meet with Kamaran’s parents, family members, friends, and fellow photojournalists, in order to gain a profound understanding of Kamaran’s spirit and legacy.

This work is not only a tribute to Kamaran’s courage and dedication but also a reflection on his belief that journalism is not merely about conflict—it is about documenting life, resilience, and the quiet beauty that often goes unseen.

Details on the official book launch and signing events—both international and local—will be shared soon.

We sincerely thank Claudio Calia and Shirwan Can for their exceptional efforts in bringing Kamaran’s story to life. Stay tuned for more updates.
