Iranian forces fired twelve ballistic missiles at several areas near Erbil city early on March 13, 2022, hitting a property owned by the chief executive of local oil and construction conglomerate KAR Group, which is located about a mile from the new US Consulate General. The strike also damaged the studios of local television station Kurdistan 24. The attack was condemned by officials in the Kurdistan Region and across the world as a “cowardly” violation of Iraqi sovereignty.
