The death toll from a 7.8 magnitude earthquake, followed by a series of aftershocks, that struck Turkey and Syria on February 6, 2023 has passed 45,000 and continues to rise. The figure comes over a week after the deadly earthquake which the World Health Organisation (WHO) described as the worst natural disaster in 100 years. In addition to tens of thousands injured, thousands remain under the rubble of collapsed buildings. Photos: Julia Zimmermann/Metrography.
